Welcome to Refinery Life! My name is Maricruz Garcia, and I’m here to help you navigate your way into a rewarding and successful career in the refinery industry.

I’ve spent the past 7 years working in refineries, starting as an apprentice and steadily working my way up through various roles. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats: Scaffold Builder, Insulator, Firewatch, Electrical Apprentice, and eventually, Journeyman. Today, I proudly hold the position of Safety Coordinator, with all my certifications focused on ensuring workplace safety and excellence.

My journey hasn’t been without its challenges. As a single mother, I was driven to make a better life for my kids, even if it meant being away from home, missing birthdays, holidays, and milestones. Working in a male-dominated field presented its own set of obstacles, but perseverance, hard work, and determination brought me to where I am today. These experiences have made me stronger, and they’ve shaped my mission to help others achieve their goals in this industry.

I created this eBook with one purpose in mind: to provide a clear, actionable guide for anyone looking to break into the refinery industry—without the struggles I faced.
